House GOP Leadership Healthcare Aide Alye Mlinar and Ag Staff Director & former Leahy Deputy Chief Erica Chabot To Join Bipartisan Firm in October

Alyene Mlinar, one of Washington, DC’s most respected and sought-after healthcare staffers, is decamping the Hill to join Mehlman Consulting, which is consistently rated one of the most effective lobbying firms in town.

“Alye’s reputation and work is second to none. She is a seasoned, effective operator, which is what our clients expect and get at Mehlman Consulting. She is a perfect fit for our existing and growing business, and we could not be more thrilled to have her join our team,” said Mehlman Consulting Partner Lauren Aronson in making the announcement on behalf of the firm.

“I am excited to join the Mehlman team, work with a great group of clients and further expand the business. I’ve worked with some of the best people on Capitol Hill – from my days in the Senate, time at Ways and Means, and, of course, with Team Scalise. I wanted to make sure I could say the same when I left – not just about my new colleagues, but clients as well – and that’s what made the choice to go to Mehlman easy,” said Mlinar.

Mlinar joins Mehlman from the Office of Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA), where she advised Scalise on health care, tax, trade, and Social Security issues. Prior to moving into House GOP Leadership, Mlinar spent almost three years at the House Ways and Means’ Subcommittee on Health. She also worked on the Senate side of the Capitol, including working at the Senate Republican Policy Committee under then-Chairman John Barrasso (R-WY) as well as in the office of then-Senator Ben Sasse (R-NE). Mlinar began her career in Washington at the Heritage Foundation’s Center for Health Policy Studies. She holds a Master of Arts in Public Policy and Administration from Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Kent State University.

Erica Chabot, who most recently served as Agriculture Committee Staff Director for Chairwoman Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) and was a longtime staffer for retired Senator and former Appropriations Chairman Pat Leahy (D-VT), will also join Mehlman Consulting this month.

“Erica brings a breadth and depth of experience to our growing list of clients. She gets how to communicate complex policies and navigate everything from the Senate appropriations process to the policy hurdles of the Judiciary Committee to the politics of Farm Bills. She is the epitome of the senior, professional service our clients get at Mehlman Consulting,” said Mehlman Consulting Partner Mike Robinson in making the announcement on behalf of the firm.

“After two decades on the Hill, I am eager to use my knowledge of the Senate and the politics and policies that drive both Members and Committees to put our clients in a position to win. I have been fortunate to work for two of the great leaders and groundbreakers in Senate, not to mention countless colleagues for whom I have the greatest respect. Finding that level of integrity and professionalism was key in choosing to join Mehlman Consulting,” said Chabot.

Chabot started as Majority Staff Director at the Senate Agriculture Committee in September 2022, after spending nearly 17 years with Leahy, first on the Senator’s Vermont staff and later as Communications Director at the Senate Committee on Judiciary. From 2012-2022, Chabot served as Deputy Chief of Staff and Legislative Director for Sen. Leahy, including his time Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee. Chabot earned her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communications, and Political Science, from Saint Michael’s College.
