Naveen Parmar is a seasoned public policy professional and tax lawyer having served in senior roles in the House, Senate, and the private sector.
Throughout his career, he has advised members of Congress and committees on a range of economic, legal, and tax issues, focusing on small business policy, financial services issues, and fiscal matters.
Before joining Mehlman Consulting, Naveen served as Chief Counsel to Senator John Hickenlooper. Naveen joined Sen. Hickenlooper shortly after he was elected. As a member of his senior leadership team, Naveen played a key role in setting up the office and shaped the Senator’s economic policy agenda. He also held senior positions with the Committee on Small Business, serving as both Tax Counsel and later as General Counsel during the pandemic. As the General Counsel, Naveen was involved in every aspect of the pandemic related relief efforts providing critical guidance on the Paycheck Protection Program and other small business relief efforts. His expertise extends to legislative strategy, having worked on economic policy for Senator Amy Klobuchar and as Ways and Means Counsel for Congressman Lloyd Doggett.
Naveen also spent 5 years as Assistant Vice President of Government Relations at Nationwide Insurance, a Fortune 100 insurance and financial services firm. There, he helped lead the company’s engagement with policy makers throughout the passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017. In this role, he represented Nationwide’s interests before Congress and the Administration on a range of retirement savings, tax, and capital standards issues.
Naveen is a proud graduate of Pennsylvania State University, holds a law degree from Loyola University in New Orleans, and an L.L.M in Taxation from Georgetown University.
